Squirrel??

Squirrel??

What would it be like to get a second chance? The Soapy Squirrel is named after my 2 rescue dogs; whom I adopted and gave them a second chance at a good life. Both of my dogs are female, and I lovingly refer to them as “the squirrels” instead of the girls. After a tumultuous divorce I found myself lost and lonely so I decided to rescue one more dog and start a business in the pursuit of rediscovering who I am. With every bar of soap made and every hug from my pups I’m finding harmony, peace and the simple joy of creation and companionship that is choosing me.

 Hi, My name is Brittany.

As an artist, exploring the world through creating is what comes naturally to me. When I was faced with horrible acne and dry skin as a teenager I decided to take matters into my own hands. I remember making my first body oils and lip balm concoctions as young as 15 years old. I’ve been formulating for somewhere around 20 years now and I still find joy in the discovery of art that lies within the science of formulating recipes that are both nourishing and beautiful.

Meet the Maker.

Frequently asked Questions

What do you use for fragrance?

All leave on topical products (deodorant, lotion, body butter, balms…) have 100% essential oils in their recipes.

All soap bars and body scrubs, being a wash off product, either have 100% essential oils (as indicated on product labels) or are made with safety compliant fragrance oils approved by the IFRA (International Fragrance Association ). Founded in Geneva in 1973, these fragrance oils have 50+ years of research and tract record of safety and are only used at the approved dosage and product compliance. The use of fragrance oils is no different than using body sprays, perfumes and colognes and are carefully formulated and have the same standards of safety and guidelines because they all must be reported and recorded with the IFRA. All fragrances used are Paraben and Phthalate free.

What do you use for colorants?

Every colorant used in our products is either from finely ground herbs or naturally occurring clays. Clays are perfect for use in soaps because they increase the ability of the soap to lather well all while replenishing lost minerals to the skin. We do not use artificial dyes, chemical colorants, or mica powders. Our soaps as a result will never have very vibrant colors but rather are a result of natural variation and organic expression of what nature provides.
